Telegram To Launch The Telegram Open Network
The Encrypted messaging service Telegram will launch the Telegram Open Network (TON) in late October 2019. In a recent message in the official TON Board on Telegram, the firm states that original investors were informed that the blockchain network would launch later this month. Investors are provided with TON key generation software and will be required to provide Telegram with a public key to receive their Gram (GRM) tokens — the platform’s native token — by Oct. 16th. The entire source code for TON is now available on Github. How will this launch work out for Telegram?
Bitpay Now Supports XRP
The cryptocurrency payment processor BitPay has gone into a partnership with Ripple’s investment arm Xpring to support payments with XRP. The development was announced in a recent press release, showing that now businesses can accept the third-largest digital currency XRP for payments via BitPay’s cross-border payments platform. As part of the cooperation, BitPay is also integrating its BitPay Wallet with Xpring’s developer platform. How will this affect Bitpay and also XRP?
Coinbase To Pay Dividends On USD Coin
The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase now allows holders of USD Coin (USDC) to earn a 1.25% annual percentage yield (APY)., Coinbase said that eligible U.S. customers will begin earning 1.25% APY rewards on every USDC they hold on Coinbase with rewards being distributed every month. Interest earning is not available for customers in New York state. In the announcement, Coinbase described USD Coin as a stable coin that offers price stability by being backed by a reserve asset. Will this move bring more investors to the Coinbase platform?
Nancy Pelosi Has A Challenger Who Is Taking Crypto Donations
A candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 2020 is accepting cryptocurrency donations to run against Representative and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Agatha Bacelar, a Stanford engineer and designer who served with Emerson Collective and Democracy Earth argues that the existing political establishment wants to hold back a future “where economic freedom is afforded to all,” according to the campaign’s website. The challenger is accepting donations in five cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC) and USD Coin (USDC) through Coinbase, one of the most popular U.S.-based crypto exchanges and wallet services.
Visa And Mastercard To Leave Libra Project?
Facebook’s cryptocurrency Libra has been in varying amounts of trouble and disarray ever since the social media giant released the whitepaper earlier this year. Central banks and governments across the globe have put together a concerted effort against Libra, putting Facebook executives in the dock time and again as they fear that the social media giant is out to create a parallel financial system. At the moment there have been a series of rumors that Visa and Mastercard are pulling support for the project, along with some other big names. If that does happen, what does the future look like for this digital asset, even before it gets off the ground.
